I listen to the color as it tells me which shapes to draw, techniques to use, and which area of the sketch pad to draw on. It’s a very connected process. Sometimes, I hear and know which color I am using. That surprised me as I use up to 48 different pastels or chalks.  I call this part "Color-Talk."
